BETA ENGINE CONVERSIONS:

GEN.V GASOLINE

PUMP DUSE DIESEL

8/06/11

We continue to patiently await our production run pieces on the following items due in the next week to 10 days:

-Gen. 5 Gasoline Intake manifolds for both "Fly by wire" and throttle cable applications

-Hydraulic Cradle mounting arms for 2.0 "pumpe duse" driver's side ( we made a modification for clearance around the turbo and waste gate)

-A/C coolant hose connection adaptor plumbing with both hi and low pressure R 134A fittings (extremely user friendly)

-Coolant bottle relocation brackets **(This allows us use of the original "Boxer" air cleaner housing and air filter replacement on the Gen. 5 Gas and most diesel applications

-All coolant hose adaptor plumbing.

-Silicone hose changes

-Coil bracket adaptor plate dowels

-oil dip stick tubes

-Diesel Beta exhaust headers and turbo/ intercooler plumbing

-Throttle by wire pedal brackets for both gas and diesel

-15 and 16 inch spare tire carrier

While waiting for final production pieces we've spent the majority of our efforts dialing in the throttle by wire electronic throttle pedal positioning brackets, as well as mounting brackets for cruise control brake and clutch pedal switches.  The spare tire carrier took much longer than expected to be able to accommodate both 15 and 16 inch size wheel applications but as you'll see in the photos...there is still excellent clearance, and esthetics wise...it was worth the extra time spent...off roaders will appreciate the extra strength. On our return less Gen. 5  fuel system Betas, we finally toppled the hi/Lo can-bus electrical dragon and no longer have to fake out the ecu by supplying outside inputs.  We are finding a lot of the small final detail items take much more time than others we originally allotted for. Enjoy the photos.

Foreign Auto & Supply is very proud to "up the ante" for Vanagon inline engine options.  First by combining the mechanical dynamics of the ABF 2.0L 16 valve DOHC to run Naturally Aspirated, and Supercharged.  Secondly, engineering a stand alone fuel injection package utilizing Delphi’s latest technology on fuel management systems.

Our newly designed Engine Management System controlling our Supercharged ABF 16 Valve DOHC.  Click below and hear it roar in the stainless steel barrier lab while the Eddie Current dynamometer controls it at 'wide open throttle' under full load throughout the range of 1500 - 6500 RPM. Listen closely as the dyno automatically raises the RPM in intervals of 250 every 5 seconds.  All of the extra sensors wired are Frankensteinish in appearance but are necessary for proper calibration.  So crank up your volume and imagine a glass of good home brew balancing on the top of the engine as it blows past 200 Hp and 180 lb-ft torque!

Engine and Fuel Management Systems in development:

1)  2.0L 8 valve Naturally Aspirated
2)  2.0L 8 valve Supercharged
3)  2.0L 16 valve Naturally Aspirated
4)  2.0L 16 valve Supercharged
5)  1.9L TDI Common Rail
6)  1.9L or 2.0L TDI Pumpe Duse
